Pract.us believes learning and training should happen every day, not just during annual refresher or HR classes.

As a Manager, you can set the example with the priorities and expectations you establish for your team. Here are a few tips to help you help them:

  • Suggest Cards that can help them make progress towards their career goals.

  • Establish goals and tie them to their performance objectives and reviews. Reward them for continuous improvement.

  • Collaborate with them to set realistic completion dates.

  • Encourage them to explore other Cards and enroll in those that look interesting or allow them to develop new skills that will help them prepare for new or expanded responsibilities. Keep them challenged!

  • Monitor their progress and help them overcome obstacles so their learning doesn't lose momentum or purpose. Let them see that their development is important to you.

  • Be their Mentor. Helping your team develop and grow can be one of the most rewarding aspects of management. Don't leave it all to others!

  • Lead by example. Your team will know you're serious about learning when they see you doing it, too. You're never too old to learn!

  • Train your replacement. Grooming your successor helps to prepare the organization for your own next step!
